Customization is no longer an optional extra. Customers expect to adapt products and actively shape their purchase. Colors, materials and details should be freely selectable. For companies, this quickly creates an enormous number of variants that can hardly be presented economically with conventional product photography.
A project with BUMAS Hundezubehör GmbH shows how this challenge can be solved technically. With customizable dog collars, different models, widths, fittings and colors quickly create hundreds of possible configurations. Photographing or rendering every variant individually would require considerable production and maintenance effort.
The difference lies in the 3D approach. Instead of producing countless individual images, we develop one strategically structured 3D master model. Its components can be controlled separately and materials are driven by parameters. Colors and parts can therefore be changed in real time in the browser without creating new renderings.
A successful product configurator depends on technical precision. Geometry must be optimized for web applications, materials need to look realistic, and lighting and surface details must remain convincing. Performance is just as important: the configurator must load quickly and run reliably across devices. Only when visual quality and speed work together does the experience build trust in the product.
A well-built 3D model becomes a central digital product asset. It can be used not only in an online shop, but also for social media, animation and other marketing channels. New variants can be added flexibly without additional photo shoots or production steps. This reduces ongoing costs and makes future product extensions much easier.
